Stitch Doctor

Virtual Craft Connection

Join stitchers of all types (knitters, crocheters, cross-stitchers, etc.) for Virtual Craft Connection via Zoom. Motivate yourself to start or finish a project or to learn a new craft by watching others. This is an informal group of stitchers helping stitchers. No formal instruction is planned.

Virtual Craft Connection will be held online twice per month, unless otherwise noted, on the first and third Thursdays at 7:00 pm. Please visit our Events Calendar for Zoom access details.

Feel free to drop in to this online crafting program, and if you have any questions please give us a call at 781-769-0200, Dial 2. You may also email Liz with any questions at lreed@minlib.net.

The Stitch Doctor is in!

Being stuck at home in the time of COVID-19 is bad enough, but being stuck at home without a project to work on is even worse! So if you're feeling swamped by swatches, incensed by increases, peeved at patterns, or in knots over SL1 K2TOG PSSO, the Morrill Memorial Library is here for you - a second pair of eyes can’t hurt!

Liz Reed, Adult Services Librarian, is available by appointment to help with knitting quandaries. At this time we're only able to assist with knitting help, but if you're looking for crochet help please reach out and we'll see what we can do. Here are a few things to know before you go:

  • All appointments will be conducted at a table outside the library until further notice, and weather-permitting.
  • All participants will be required to wear a mask, even though we're outside, due to the nature of demonstrating and assisting with knitting techniques.
  • All appointments will take place during hours when the library is open.
  • Please bring all of the materials for your project, including needles and patterns.
  • Please let us know ahead of time what sort of project you’d like help with, in case we need to look up a new technique.

Thanks in advance for your understanding about the new safety protocols during appointments. We can't wait to get you back on track and stitching away!

Please email Liz directly to schedule a Stitch Doctor appointment at lreed@minlib.net. You may also call the Reference Department with any questions at 781-769-0200, Dial 2.

Learn to Knit and Crochet!

Unfortunately, at this time we're not able to offer Learn to Knit or Learn to Crochet classes at the library. We hope to resume when in-person programs are again safe to offer, and we don't think we can offer these classes effectively in an online format. Thanks for your understanding and we hope to see you soon!
