TogetherYes: "Hungry Tide" film and discussion

The Pacific nation of Kiribati, population 114,000, may be one of the first countries to disappear as a direct result of climate change. Come to the Morrill Memorial Library on Monday, November 20 at 7:00 p.m. for a screening and discussion of “The Hungry Tide” presented by Together Yes. This award-winning documentary chronicles the tragic impact of rising sea levels on the residents of this stunning nature lover’s paradise. The film follows the life and work of Maria Tiimon from a small Australian high school to the world stage. Maria finds herself torn between her family’s needs and her role as one of the foremost advocates for the rights of Pacific Islanders. As Maria’s story unfolds, the situation in Kiribati deteriorates; only decisive global action will save her nation.
