Rob Gregg, president of the Vine Lake Preservation Trust in Medfield, will present an illustrated talk at the Morrill Memorial Library on Monday, April 9 at 7 p.m. to inspire Norwood residents interested in restoring the Old Parish Cemetery on Washington St. in Norwood. Mr. Gregg’s talk is sponsored by the Old Parish Preservation Volunteers—a charitable organization whose goal is to preserve and raise awareness of Norwood’s Old Parish Cemetery, established in 1741, and make it more accessible to the public. Two Saturday mornings will be scheduled in the spring and two in the fall at which volunteers of all ages can help out at the cemetery in a number of ways, including resetting tipped gravestones. The dates of these work days will be announced at the kick-off event on April 9.

Mr. Gregg will talk about the Trust’s initiatives in preserving, enhancing, interpreting, and celebrating the Vine Lake Cemetery, a cultural resource in existence since 1651. The burial ground and cemetery has remained a place for solitude, contemplation, and reflection as well as being an important social, historical, architectural, natural, and archaeological resource.
